My little sister Simmy is a dope makeup artist...period! Over the years I have seen her go from dabbling in drug store makeup, to launching her very own company. I am proud. And fortunate that that she is back in the NYC area and able to share with me some great makeup tips. My daily makeup routine is simple: wash, moisturize, light powder foundation, eyeshadow, mascara, lip gloss. It usually takes me about 5 minutes to apply. That was until Simmy showed me the light! Needless to say, over the past couple of months I have spent a lot a money in Sephora and MAC and Ulta, and my daily routine time has tripled. I am not complaining...I love the way my makeup looks once I have employed Simmy's tips! Here are a few of them:
1. Use a color corrector before using concealer. I typically do this underneath my eyes to mask the occasional dark circles. Using a color corrector under the concealer makes for a smoother finish. Who knew!
2. Contouring. I have always been so intimidated by contouring. But not anymore! Simmy turned me on to match sticks, which is great for folks like myself who want to contour, but don't know how! I've been using Fenty Beauty's Match Stix, which is amazing! And Simmy showed me how and where to apply the concealer (darker) and highlighter (lighter), and how to blend it on my face. I feel like a pro!
3. And speaking of blending, Simmy has also introduced me to the Beauty Blender, which I use to apply my color corrector, concealer, and foundation, and when contouring. I works so much better than my finders or a sponge, and I definitely can see the difference. Definitely $25 well spent!
4. Better Than Sex Mascara. Best mascara ever! I still don't know how to apply false eyelashes, but with this mascara I don't need to! My lashes look full, thick, and long. I will never use another mascara ever!
That's all I got for now, but if you are looking for more tips and/or a great makeup artist, check up my sister...she's fantastic! SimoneALewis.com / @Simonelewisbeauty (Instagram) / @Embrace90 (Instagram)
